Short Films
Every time I work on a short film, it’s such an amazing experience. The collaborative environment sparks so much creativity and it’s a place I always wish to go back to.
Internalize
My senior thesis film that a team of nearly 50 people and I worked on for 18 months, Internalize is a VFX-driven abstract short film about the aimlessness one can feel when dealing with depression. It’s not perfect, and our post-production workflow got very derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but I’m still incredibly proud of it. (2020)
My roles: Director, co-writer, lead editor, lead VFX artist, additional producing
Laurels: Official Selection - International Sound & Film Music Festival; Official Selection - Fayetteville Film Festival, Winner - Rome Independent Prisma Award; Best VFX - Venice Film Awards
Zombie Breath
I like to dabble and experiment in visual effects work when I can, so being able to do some eye replacement and post-production help for this short was incredible! I’ve known the creatives behind it for a while, and we’ve been wanting to work together for years. So glad it finally got to happen, especially on a project this fun! (2024)
My roles: Additional visual effects
Laurels: Winner (Zombie Horror) - Tuesday of Horror Film Festival
Recoiled
3D animation is a field I try and return to every few years, but have never found quite the right project to fully pull me back in. When Recoiled was being made, though, it was the perfect project to have even a bit part in. The crew was so ridiculously talented and were so nice and helpful that it made even the smallest contribution feel important. (2019)
My roles: Additional modeling artist, additional rigging
Laurels: Official Selection - Breckenridge Film Festival; Best of Festival (Screenwriting) - BEA Festival of Media Arts; Official Selection - Los Angeles Animation Festival; among other awards
Cult for a Day
Getting to work on longer animated pieces is always fun, especially when you have a great illustrator providing you with high quality assets. I was asked to work on the credits sequence with a tight turnaround time, but it was nothing a few late nights and energy drinks couldn’t take care of! This is such a fun short film, so I’m very happy I got to be even a small part of it. (2019)
My role: Credits sequence animator
Laurels: Official Selection - Key West Film Festival; 1st Place - MBEA International Intermediate Film
Brianna’s Birthday Show!
I had an accidental tradition of being out of town for my sister’s birthday, so for her sweet 16th, my dad said I had to make her something. I’m not sure if he regretted that after seeing what I made in the span of 24 hours right before her birthday, an improvised drink-making tutorial that went just a tiny bit off the rails. (2019)
My roles: Writer, director, editor, effects, “actor”
Brianna’s Birthday Show 2!
In stark contrast to the first birthday video, I put a lot of time and energy into producing this half-hour, partly improvised short film to celebrate my sister’s 18th birthday. It was the first creative thing I had done in almost a year after graduating college during the pandemic, so I also used it as an excuse to relearn how to use a camera and figure out all the tiny minutiae that go into making a film. (2021)
My roles: Writer, director, producer, cinematographer, editor, effects, “actor,” musician
Brianna’s Birthday Show 3!
For my sister’s 21st birthday, I wanted to do something big. Unfortunately (depending on who you ask), my time and resources were taken up this year by something a little more important: my wedding! Despite that, I wanted to put together a present for my sister with 21 little gifts inside, and took that as an excuse to film the entire thing. My goals for this one were higher production value and higher chaos, and I think I accomplished both. (2024)
My roles: Writer, director, producer, editor, motion graphics, “actor”. voice actor, animator
Millennials Ruin Everything
Comedy is always such a fun playground to be in that I didn’t dare pass up the opportunity to work on this musical meta-parody short film. Being able to dig in to every take and every joke and get the timing just right was so enjoyable, and being able to add a little bit of my sense of humor in editing was even better. (2019)
My roles: Editor, effects, second unit director of photography, credits co-designer, session musician (drums)
Laurels: Official Selection - Lift-Off First Time Filmmaker Sessions Film Festival
The Knight
My friend and close collaborator made this 16mm short film before moving to New York and asked me to help with title design and some effects work, which I was happy to do. I don’t get the chance to draw very much outside of storyboarding, so this project was a lot of fun to be a small part of. (2021)
My role: Title designer
