The Retaliators
I’ve always loved horror movies, especially those that don’t take themselves too seriously, so when I got the opportunity to do some social/content editing for The Retaliators, I knew I had to accept. The film is a love letter to 80’s horror featuring cameos and songs from a bunch of different artists, including Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Ice Nine Kills, Tommy Lee, and more.
Videos are selections from the numerous different pieces prepared for the movie’s marketing campaign.
Accolades Trailer
To celebrate the movie’s release, the producers requested a trailer showing all the praise the movie had gotten. Using BTS filmed for the movie, footage from influencer videos, and quotes from numerous publications, it was a blast to put together. (2022)
VOD Rooftop Premiere Sizzle
This was the first time I had ever been paid to travel for a filming gig, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one to start with. It was also such a big celebration of a film so many people had put work into that you could feel the sense of accomplishment from everyone at the venue. (2022)
Halloween Vampire Spot
For the holiday season during and after the release of the film, one of the producers wanted to put together a total of 7 short commercial spots: four for Halloween and three for Christmas, all in the same B-movie horror vein as the original. This is my favorite of the Halloween spots, showing a vampire trying (and failing) to claim a victim. (2022)
Christmas Santa Claus Spot
My favorite of the three Christmas spots we made. I love the subversion of the normal Christmastime aesthetic, and I think it fits right in line with the other marketing materials for the movie. Getting to put together fun title cards is always a plus. (2022)
The Cast’s Fav Horror Movies
This video began as a social post for the film’s instagram page, which I expanded into a featurette for the DVD Extras. I always think it’s fun to get a peek at the personalities behind the public personas, and this was a great opportunity to show those off. (2022)
The Retaliators Social Posts
By far my biggest task for the film was making two social posts per week for the movie’s main social media account, as well as posts for all the artists that played a part, either in the movie itself or on the soundtrack. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of these, but I always had a soft spot for this one, which showed a little more camaraderie between the cast than most of the others. (2022)
